Talk of advertising claims, the impact of geopolitical issues on the economy, and wage estimates floated through the Boulevard as the Middle Schoolers welcomed professionals from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) during the first of their three visits to Speyer, as part of our financial literacy curriculum. This year the instructor teams included Speyer Parents and Staff to assist in the program as the PwC team has not yet returned to full in-person work. Taking a break from their usual morning schedule, each grade explored various financial topics.

Not only are these are wonderful awards, there is something else to consider: our students compete in the 13-18 age group, going up against thousands of high schoolers from around the region. It is extremely impressive that Speyer eighth graders do so well in this esteemed competition!

This "Broadway on Ninth!" assembly was the first in a series launched for our Middle School students that will expose them to different fields and perhaps incite hidden passions – or capitalize on current ones.

During this immersion into the study of World War I, they considered how different assignments, all of which tasked them to delve deep into analysis, tells the story of war best and which tells the truth of war best...and what the difference between those two questions truly means.

Last weekend’s event was by far the largest season opening event in the Urban Debate League, with almost 400 students from 36 schools in two states in attendance! With an undefeated record, Speyer’s team of Zach V., Mikeala G., and Nathan G. won the tournament!

The day-long “bootcamp” allowed our Middle Schoolers to become oriented with the various technology tools they will use over the course of the year, discuss key executive functioning skills, and foster a sense of community.
