At Speyer, it’s our belief that student-athletes grow mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally through their involvement in competitive sports. Our definition of success is not about winning games, but competing with passion and taking pride in our accomplishments while developing important life skills along the way. In addition, our aim is to develop in our student-athletes an improved self-image, the ability to learn a new skill, and an intrinsic motivation for growth and development on and off the field or court.

Meet our Coaches Here!
CAILE MARTINEZ
Coach Martinez, and bring years of experience running and coaching from the elementary to college level. She was a division I, three season, athlete at Providence College, where she competed in mid-distance and distance events, including the 3,000m steeplechase. She has run a 5k with a time of 18:04 and 3k steeple at 10:50 at the Big East Championship. She coached for Nike Run Club for 2 years and spent a year coaching a Division 3 college cross-country team. She continues to train today and hopes to bring her love of the sport to her student-athletes! In addition to coaching cross-country and track and field, Coach Martinez teaches Middle School science at Speyer.
ADAM SMILOWITZ
Coach Smilowitz holds a B.S. in Media Studies from CUNY Queens College and obtained a Post-Baccalaureate and M.S. in Physical Education. Coach Smilowitz enjoys working with students and teaching concepts that make up teamwork and sportsmanship. Coach Smilowitz holds a USSF Soccer “E” and “F” License and Coach Smilowitz has conducted youth basketball clinics for the Forest Hills Basketball League since 2009, and has coached several youth basketball teams ranging in age from 8–17. In addition to coaching, Coach Smilowitz teaches Physical Education at Speyer.
MALIN SEGAL
Coach Segal holds a B.S. in Psychology from Sarah Lawrence College, where he was also member and captain of the Men's Basketball Team. He then obtained a masters degree in Applied Human Development with a concentration in Physical Education and Coaching from Boston University's School of Education. Coach Segal enjoys coaching because of the bonds and relationships the players make with one another while overcoming challenges to become successful. Coach Segal has previously served as a High School Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach, AAU Basketball coach for grades 2-12, and Middle School Soccer Coach. In addition to coaching, Coach Segal teaches Physical Education at Speyer.
