Speyer Chess Wows at the New York City Championships!

We ended January and kicked off February with a winning weekend! Our Speyer Chess Team rocked the New York City Chess Championships and brought home the K-1 Championship! Yes, our K-1 team was awarded first place in the city! And we weren’t done there: our K-6 team came in 2nd, our K-9 team was 6th, and our K-3 team came in 8th! Our amazing chess players went head to head against opponents from Hunter, Dalton, Avenues, Lower Lab, Collegiate, and more!

What do you do on YOUR weekends? Our Speyer Chess Team tends to spend their “off days” on their way to checkmates and championships! Recently, Dragon Chess trekked to the Greater New York City Scholastic Chess Championship Tournament and the United States Amateur Team East Championship, bringing home the City Championship team title for the K-6 division and First Place Middle School Team! Speyer Chess Brings Home TWO National Championships...and SO MUCH MORE!

It’s only fitting that during the season of joy last December, Speyer Chess brought home much for us to be joyful about! Yes, Speyer Chess trekked to the K-12 US Chess National Championships and brought home TWO National Championship team titles for Kindergarten and 4th Grade! In fact, all Speyer Chess teams ended in top 10 for each division! We had many individual awards as well, including Lucas Y., who came in first place and is the National Champion for Kindergarten!
