Hoop, There It Is! Dragon Basketball Season Tips Off!

Yes, it's basketball season again, folks, and our Dragons are ready to take to the court!

It's an understatement to say that the 2016-2017 boys basketball season was a huge success. The Dragons made it to the championship game, though they failed to capture the title in a tough match-up that went into overtime.

With memories of last year's buzzer-beater still fresh in mind, the boys team has set their goal for the 2017-2018 season: to capture the elusive championship! The Dragons had minimal turnover in players suiting up — Jackson M., Haruki I., Anthony W., Declan H., Zakariya T., Victor M., and Jonah G. all returned this year, while Daniel S. (previously played in 6th grade), William V., Dylan G., Teddy K., and Ryan P. joined the team, rounding out the roster. We're pretty confident it will be an exciting and fun-filled basketball season...especially with a start to the season like the Dragons had this week!

Their first game was a match-up against Winston Prep, and Speyer came out on top, with a final score of 49-13! Of the 11 players that dressed for the game, eight scored in the contest! It was an excellent way to kick off Speyer's journey for the title. Next up: the Dragons will go up against Gaynor in a rematch of last year's championship game! Hope to see you there! GO DRAGONS!
